Critics are crying foul at the WHO’s collaboration with social media by curating what is left of information that users find when looking for medical news – all in the name of “helping to stop disinformation“.
The WHO has been working with social media policy departments to “enhance” their company COVID-19 Misinformation Policies and provide guidelines for content providers to ensure “no medical misinformation related to the virus” proliferates on their platform. Policy updates such as this have led to the removal of 850,000 YouTube videos related to what they say is harmful or misleading COVID-19 misinformation from February 2020 to January 2021.
